FAQ's

Born out of a love for beautiful accessories for the home and a love for travelling and exploring new grounds, we started bringing into Perth the treasures which have for so long attracted us from overseas.

These I believe, embellish a home like travelling embellishes our minds and spirits. Mementos from holidays gone by, have a strong presence in our homes; they evoke feelings of happiness and pride, feelings we at PANTOUFLE seek to 'sell'.

Our website was our initial approach, providing an online store that anyone from Perth, interstate or indeed overseas can access. After much research and anticipation, www.pantoufle.com.au was born.

Such was the initial reaction of our online presence that in March 2010 we decided to complement our website with a retail shop, whereby our customers can stroll in, see, feel and try our merchandise. The shop setting is such that it is reminiscent of a 'home', a warm environment in which to showcase things you would normally only see in souks or markets far away.

We have achieved our motto, which is "Bringing a world of home gifts to your feet"! In most cases, once an order is received, the items purchased are packaged and sent the next day. We have so far sent stock to most Australian capital cities, as well as London and the United States.

Generally it takes 2 or 3 working days for delivery interstate, and up to 10 days to reach overseas addresses. However it must be noted that because we mainly rely on deliveries ourselves from overseas, sometimes we find ourselves waiting up to 8 weeks for stock to arrive. In such cases, we would naturally advise you of the delay, if any.

Because our stock is generally hand picked, and always from distant ports, we never carry a large quantity of each item we sell. They are mostly 'one offs', pieces that have been hand made, often from a place we may not be able to access again. As such, although we will always endeavour to obtain whatever it is our clients want, sometimes the identical item they have seen on our website or in our store cannot be replaced. In this case, we are happy to offer a similar product or alternatively refund your money.

Similarly, since many of our pieces are hand crafted by artisans with very little modern equipment, often using raw and natural fibres and materials, the final product reflects some flaws or uneven textures. This is not a defect or a faulty item, but rather a symbol of its uniqueness and rustic quality.

Please bear that in mind when ordering online, although we can guarantee that every piece leaving our store is in perfect condition. All our stock is sourced from overseas; not because we do not support local industries, far from it, but because we want to bring a unique and different slant to giftware in Perth.

From Moroccan hand stitched leather slippers, so typical of Moroccan souks, to French toiletries from the house of Fragonard in the South of France, we endeavour to be just a little bit different from the rest.... with stock that isn't often seen elsewhere in Australia.

However,as time has seen us through nearly two years of business, we are now proud to have taken on board some very talented West Australian artists to complement our collection of unique gifts.

One such artist is Sarah May Baxter, a ceramics artist who makes and hand paints a stunning collection of tableware, vases, wall plaques, just to name a few.Every piece is individually crafted and signed by Sarah May, so it is a 'one off'.

Sarah May is fast establishing her name locally with her very colourful, very original style which has fitted well among our internationally sourced collection. At the end of the day, we are focused on customer satisfaction and are open minded about expanding our range of products, to suit our clientele. We are happy to listen and learn about what our market expects from us.

I was recently asked for a door knocker a lady had seen in her adventures in Morocco; we set off to find it for her and happily we now have a couple displayed in our store to adorn some local doors as well! In another instance, we were asked to get an old fashioned couscous cooking pot, the way real couscous is cooked in the Middle East .... a few weeks later, arriving in a shipment from Marrakesh was a shiny 'Couscoussiere', the authentic double pot used to produce some of the most delectable Moroccan couscous dishes.

Please feel at home browsing through the pages of our website, or through the doors of our shop, located at Shop 7, 20-38 Subiaco Square Road, SUBIACO, W.A. 6008.
