PANTOUFLE means 'slipper' in french - that is and always has represented for me the epitomy of 'being home'!
When one puts their slippers on, feelings of comfort, safety, homeliness and relief are immediately evoked and one is at peace with the world. This is the feeling I am endeavouring to create through the artifacts and accessories I have hand chosen from the far away souks and markets of the world.
I have been blessed to have extensively travelled far and wide throughout my life and have always been inspired to bring back a little piece of the countries I have visited - a constant reminder of my adventures abroad and a need to share the incredible wealth of colour and beauty that can be found beyond our boundaries.
PANTOUFLE is a reflection of a home, rich in pieces that have a story to tell, a culture to emanate and a presence which will be felt in your home for years to come. It is born out of a fusion of two passions: travel and unique home accessories.
Since starting the business on line in 2009, we were delighted to find there was a demand in Perth for homeware and gifts that are just a little bit different from the rest; the kind of items one sees on their trips abroad but for practical reasons cannot bring back home with them. So, PANTOUFLE has created a business whereby you can come across such items, no matter where they come from ....if we don't already have them in stock, we will endeavour to get them for you.
Such was the response to our online shop that in March 2010, we opened our shop in Subiaco, Western Australia, where we can literally welcome people into our 'home'. Decorated in warm colours, stocked with colourful leather slippers and ottomans from Morocco, silver platters from South Africa and beautiful baby blankets from Nepal, just to name a few items, PANTOUFLE is indeed a reflection of a home.
Open 7 days a week, we are always here to offer you the opportunity to wander in and imagine these objects from afar in your own environment. They are all reminiscent of a holiday, or a country, or a culture one has seen or read about.
As well as stocking an everchanging array of homewares, we are also excited to have introduced a small selection of edible gifts, such as homemade Dukkah (middle eastern dip) and equally homemade delicious Lebanese sweets.
Along the same path, we have also introduced our popular Tagine Cooking Demonstrations, held at our store at the end of every month.
The
idea there is to showcase the versatility of our Moroccan cooking tagines. We
have already held a Moroccan, Indian, Frenchand Spanish cooking demo which
proves the sky's the limit with what you can create with these magic cooking
vessels. They're simple to use, require no fat as food cooks in its own juices
and fill the house with a yummy, spicy aroma.
Get
your genuine Moroccan hand made clay tagine from us and put your name down for
the next cooking demo.
Enjoy browsing through our pages, keep updated with our ever changing selection of products and specials and visualise the ambiance these pieces will create in your home.
